Because of this it is wise to isolate that MySQL such that it is only used for that service. But to do this you have to configure that server to be able to serve up databases to remote machines. Although not terribly complicated, without knowing where to look and what to do, this task can be seemingly impossible. But after this tutorial, your databases will be accessible to user/machines you configure – and only those user/machines.

Google Web History was Merge With Chrome History

Google Web History is an automatically turned on service for Google account users who use Google search while being logged into that account. According to Google, it contains information about the searches users do, and the pages that get clicked on. Users can access the web history online, and Google uses the information to personalize the search results. (If you are a Google user, and logged in while using the search engine, you may want to consider turning off the Web History feature).

The Google Chrome history on the other hand lists the pages that users have visited while using the Google Chrome web browser.

SpeedyFox 2.0, Speed Up your Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome and Skype

Programs like Firefox, Thunderbird or the Windows operating system tend to become slower the longer you use them. This can be partially attributed to the way these programs save and delete data. In the case of Firefox and Thunderbird, SQLite databases are used to store data. These databases grow in size over time, which in turn reduces the loading time and thus the performance of the application.

Back in 2009 I reviewed several options to optimize the SQLite database files in Firefox to improve to speed up the web browser after some time of use. The same method worked with Thunderbird as well.

Notepad++ 6.0 was Released, Download Now

One of the most popular Notepad replacements for the Windows operating system, Notepad++, has just received an update. Notepad++ is used by many to replace the standard Notepad text editor that ships with all versions of Windows. It extends the functionality significantly, from a tabbed editing interface that allows you to open multiple text documents in one window, to macro and plugin support.

Version 6.0 of Notepad++ comes with three new features that the developers have integrated into the new version.

  • PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions) is supported.
  • Add Document Map feature (via Menu “View->Document Map”).
  • Enhance the loading performance for the large file.
